Bring Your Own Technology

This book is a must read for any anyone considering the move to B.Y.O. - D (Device) OR T (Technology)!

As we are in the midst of planning a roll out of B.Y.O.D., beginning with staff in Term 4 and then students in 2013 and there are some valuable lessons to be learnt from others.

It's an exciting time for the education sector and with the introduction of B.Y.O.D. our aim is to give students the choice and freedom to use the personal technology they want and which they beleive will best fit their own style of learning. We expect it to boost enagament levels, with the long term aim of
making the technology integration totally
ubiquitous.

Publication Date: 2012 | ISBN-10: 1742861008 | ISBN-13: 978-1742861005
Mal Lee and Martin Levins latest publication is the best guide I've seen for schools considering opening up access for students via their own mobile technology in classroom settings, rather than it being provided by the school.

I read this recently published book over the past weekend and found it to be informative and practical. The case studies are extremely useful and contact details are even provided.

The book itself outlines:
*why the development needs to be embraced
* the imperative of authentic collaboration between home and school
* what each school needs to do to ready itself
* how to deal with the raft of options
* the kind of whole school/community implementation strategy required
* the practicalities of achieving sustained total student usage and the many dividends that
  will then flow.
