Melbourne Girls Grammar has just been notified that we have been selected to take part in the big History Project Trial in 2013. 


BILL Gates is accustomed to big thinking and big ideas. Yet, as the multibillionaire exercised on his treadmill one morning in his lakeside mansion and listened to a series of recorded lectures, he knew he had come across something extraordinary. The lectures were called Big History: The Big Bang, Life on Earth and the Rise of Humanity.

"I'm probably a power consumer of instructional videos," Microsoft's co-founder later wrote on his blog, thegatesnotes.com. "My favourite course of all time is called Big History, taught by David Christian who developed his course at Macquarie University in Australia. When I came across his lectures, he really blew me away."I wish everyone could take this course. Big history literally tells the story of the universe, from the very beginning to the complex societies we have today; it shows how everything is connected to everything else [and] weaves together insights and evidence from so many disciplines into a single, understandable story — insights from astronomy, physics, chemistry, biology, anthropology, history, economics, and more."
