New features on Facebook to be wary of
In recent weeks everytime I open up Facebook on my phone there seems to be an offer of a new add-in and each time I have just hit the "Cancel" button and not thought any more about it. The problem with this though is that adults will think about the choices before them but look at the buttons on the image....young children are far more likely to hit the bright green one over the dull grey.
By clicking on the green "Get Started" button you are turning on a feature that enables automatic syncing, which means the 20 most recent photos taken on your smartphone are uploaded to Facebook - and then every photo you take after that.
The photos are not automatically made public, they sit in a new private storage centre similar to Mac's iCloud where you can go through and select which photo's your followers can see.
However what you need to consider is that there is data associated with the photos. Just like Instagram and many other social networking sites based on images rather than text, Facebook then has access to all the data related to that photo.
The data collected can include: your location, places nearby, the date time and through facial recognition technology, even who's in the photo.
