As part of our Cybersafety sessions we run at school we always discuss the creation of inappropriate pages on Facebook and the consequences of getting caught. Two years ago we saw a huge increase in pages, being set up by students, supposedly as a joke, that encouraged bullying and gossip. The examples we used were the "goss" and "rate a root"sites that were specific to suburbs or schools.
Today, finally there is a clear message that this behaviour is not acceptable and The Age newspaper has reported that two young mean have just received 4 years jail for creating a "rate a root" site.
