Another ISTE over

So as I prepare to leave for the Asia Society Partnership for Global Learning Annual Conference in Brooklyn on Friday (and NOT looking forward to a 5am start in the morning to catch a 7.30am flight) it's time to reflect on the past 4 days which have been full of learning and networking.

This time round, being my second ISTE visit, I decided to intentionally pack in extra networking sessions as in 2010 I came away confident that when it comes to Technology and it's integration in Education Australia is leading the way without the constraints of districts, state legislation and the policy makers that our colleague sin the U.S. have to battle with (at least in the Independent sector in which I work anyway).

As well as the sessions I have blogged about, I also attended a number of SIG (Special Interest Groups) to which I belong. It was great to run into so many Aussie's at these but at the same time making new friends and contacts from all over the U.S., as well as Canada.

I have mentioned the use of PowerPoints which are still prolific but at least this time round it was balanced with the use of services such as Google docs and LiveBinder that allows for us all to access and share the resources presented well into the future.

Again this year I remain confident that Australia is leading the move to BYOD, content/learning management systems, cloud based servers and mobile learning. How good would it be if U.S.educators could visit us 'down under' for a major conference of this kind?

Farewell San Diego!
