Last year we unblocked Skype for our staff in the hope we could get some global collaboration happening in the classroom, but this can really be quite tricky to organise and being in Australia often the time differences pose an extra barrier. Skype my have just come to the rescue though with their free online community that helps teachers use Skype in their instruction and connect with others gloablly looking to do the same.

The initiative just announced new partnerships with Penguin Group, the New York Philharmonic, and other groups to bring content experts into classrooms via free video chats.
