Policies, Safety and Social Networking- Steve Dembo

Steve had some controversial ideas about leaving digital footprints. Watch this video before I tell you his thoughts on the subject.
Steve asked the audience how many schools publish a child's photograph online or in school newsletters using both the child's First Name and Last Name. In a room of approx. 200 people perhaps 6 raised their hands.
Steve as a parent believes schools can improve the quality of information about children online. As a parent he would rather have school associated photos, stories, reports appear in a Google search rather than his son's own photos and networking messages.
He also suggested parents can rig it to give their children an awesome advantage as we all know employers, talent scouts and school admissions staff search Google when faced with a tough decision.
For adults he suggested working on your own social media resume and his tips for doing this:
- Don't lie,
- Be Professional,
- Show off and stay current,
- Censor yourself & your friends,
- Edit, spell check and proofread.
