Converge09

Last week I attended the Converge conference which mainly consisted of educators from Higher Ed and TAFE's across the state. The most interesting & inspiring presentation was by Andrew Douch, a practicing classroom teacher with 19 years experience teaching secondary science. He is the ICT Innovatons Leader at Wanganui Park Secondary College in Shepparton and he is passionate about his assertion that great teachers need not be “tech-savvy”. They are novel, innovative and willing to take risks. “What we need in the 21st Century is not teachers with computer skills, but teachers with minds open to change, teachers with new ideas. The technical know-how comes second to the ideas that make it necessary.

I would also recommend you have a read of his blog

My favourite quote from the conference was, "The firewall police are redundant" - About time I say!
